After graduating from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in 2004 with an Honours Degree in Accounting joined Deloitte where he completed his articles and passed his board exams. After his articles, Gordon worked as a financial manager at Old Mutual Healthcare and thereafter at the Steinhoff Doors and Building Materials (SDBM) group of companies which included Pennypinchers and Timbercity.  During his time in the corporate financial environment, Gordon developed his managerial, capital management and financial statement analytical skills.

Gordon joined UWC in 2012 as a lecturer within the Accounting Department, where he lectures Financial Accounting and Legal Accounting for the Law Faculty.

Gordon has a keen interest in how the use of emerging online and mobile technologies can facilitate an improvement in teaching and learning practices at universities. He completed his Masters Degree M(Phil) (Cum Laude) in the Law Faculty of UWC which has taken him in a very different but exciting direction with regards to his research area of interest. His mini-thesis A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE AFRICAN UNION’S SELF-FINANCING MECHANISM ignited his interest in the areas of international trade law, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), colonialism, capitalism, the African Union (AU) and the resulting effects on Africa as a whole. His goal is to complete his PhDin the area of international trade law and development theories.
